Time For A Trial Run

Well… Live365 has officially closed down. So we are building a temporary home. Time will tell whether it will be our permanent home or not. But at least will be able to bring you the music that you’ve enjoyed on our station. It’s going to take us a bit to “unpack” and get things up and running. But we’ll be sure to be back the way we used to be! We want to thank our listeners, who have been following us, for your patience! We won’t let you down. If all goes well, we hope to be back up and running by Friday, February 12th. So stay tuned to the website, Facebook page, or Twitter for more updates!

Good News, Bad News

As many of you know, our radio station broadcasts through a third-party website called Live365. Many of you have the app on your mobile devices and visit the website to stream us on your computers. We, sincerely, hope that you’ve enjoyed the magic that we’ve been able to give to you all.

So here’s the bad news:

Many of you have received notices from Live365 regarding the status of the website. We followed up with them and found out that the website may be shutting down on January 31st. I’m sure this surprised you as much as it surprised us. Certainly a disappointment. So while it’s not official, it’s likely that Magic Kingdom Radio will no longer be played on Live365 beginning February 1st.

But there is good news:

You haven’t heard the last of us! We’re currently looking into other alternatives to bring you the same music you’ve enjoyed on our station. Possibly, even a solution where you can stream right from magickingdomradio.net.  So keep an eye on the website, Facebook Page, or Twitter account for updates. You have not heard the last of us! We will still be here for you!

10 Twangy Facts About Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree

10 Twangy Facts About Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree

Here are some interesting facts that we came across from the website mentalfloss.com.

1. THE ATTRACTION WAS ORIGINALLY SLATED FOR A DISNEY SKI RESORT.

Back in the mid ’60s, Disney had big plans to build a ski resort in California’s Sequoia National Park. In addition to the ski slope, the resort would have included a five-story hotel with 1030 rooms, a movie theater, a general store, ice rinks, tennis courts—and a variety show featuring a band of bears that appeared to have wandered in from the surrounding forest. On September 19, 1966, Disney held a press conference to announce the project. On December 15, 1966, Walt died. Plans for the resort were eventually canceled, but the Imagineers didn’t forget about those animatronic performing bears. Catch a demo for the original idea here.

2. IT WAS ONE OF THE LAST PROJECTS WALT WORKED ON.

Imagineer Marc Davis has said that Disney delighted in the preliminary sketches for the bear band concept. “Walt laughed when he saw [the sketches],” Marc remembered. “He looked awfully bad. He’d been in the hospital, and he’d lost a lung, and so on. Later he came back around … and I stopped in my doorway … and as he walked down the hall about 40 feet, he stopped and turned … he said, ‘Good-bye Marc.’ And that was it. He died a couple of weeks later. And he never said good-bye, usually. He would say, ‘Let’s get together,’ or ‘How about next week?’ or something. I’m positive he had a feeling about it.”

3. IT WAS THE FIRST DISNEY WORLD ATTRACTION TO BE REPLICATED AT DISNEYLAND.

Plenty of attractions from Disneyland ended up in the Sunshine State, but the success of the Country Bears in Disney’s Florida park made it the first attraction to be reproduced on the other coast. In fact, in 1972, Big Al and his pals inspired an $8 million Disneyland expansion called “Bear Country.”

New Jungle Cruise themed restaurant, Skipper Canteen, to open at Walt Disney World | Inside the Magic

New Jungle Cruise themed restaurant, Skipper Canteen, to open at Walt Disney World | Inside the Magic.

Here’s something else to look forward to. Looks like there will be a new restaurant opening in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort. The Skipper Canteen, a Jungle cruise themed eatery, will open it’s doors in late 2015. It is said that the restaurant will feature two different eating experiences. One dining hall that will be mess hall style and the other being a “once-hidden secret meeting room”. We’re unsure, at this time, whether this will be table service or quick service dining. Either way, this will present another dining option in the Magic Kingdom.

What are your thoughts?
